Garage Door Repair Castaic Ca
We have two main components of the garage door, the opener and the door itself. In this section Local Garage Door Repair Castaic Ca looks at repairing the garage door.
The overhead garage doors can either roll up in sections or can swing in just one piece, but all work through spring tension. The door usually moves on the metal tracks on the walls of the garage while a heavy spring provides it with the necessary power. We have many cases when the door refuses to work easily, repairs are somehow simple. Below are some of the helpful tips that you can use to repair your garage door.
Step 1: make sure that the metal garage door tracks inside of the garage are checked and that they are properly aligned. Check the mounting of the brackets that holds the tacks onto the wall. In case they are loose, fasten the bolts or screws at the brackets. In case you are working from inside your garage as its door remains closed check the tracks for any dent, flat spots, or crimps. If you find any damaged parts, pound them properly using a hammer while placing a block of scrap wood and where tracks are damaged to a bigger extend then just replace them.
Step 2: inspect the tracks to ensure that they are aligned properly. Make sure that the horizontal tracks are slightly slanted downwards towards the back of the garage. Both the tracks of your garage door should be at the same height on the walls of the garage. In case the tracks are not well aligned, loosen the screws and bolts holding the mounting brackets and return the tracks to their rightful position. Then tighten bolts and screws of the mounting bracelets.
Step 3: make sure that the tracks are cleaned to remove any hardened grease or dirty, use a concentrated household cleaner to do this. Wipe both the garage door rollers and the tracks dry.
Step 4: inspect if there is hardware that is loose and tighten it as required. If it is a swing-up door, inspect the plates where the spring is fitted to ensure that the screws are not loose. If the doors are the roller-up type, ensure that you tighten up any loose screw, and replace hinges that maybe damaged. Correct the sagging of one side of the garage door by serving the hinges. If the screw hole is too large, replace it with one of equal diameter. In case the wood has a crack at one of the hinges; you will have to remove that hinge and then fill those cracks, and then screw the holes using a wood filler.
